An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join their dynamic Acute Lung Unit. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse patient group, ranging from young asthmatics to those with severe lung conditions. You will be part of a supportive team that values your contributions and encourages personal development through training in acute skills and specialty areas. The environment fosters innovation, allowing you to implement your own ideas to enhance patient care. If you are passionate about respiratory care and thrive in a collaborative setting, this position is perfect for you.
The respiratory ward manages the exciting balance of acuity, palliative and everything in between. Our patient group covers a diverse range from young asthmatics to exacerbations of COPD and patients with lung cancer. We are also home to the Acute Lung Unit, where we provide acutely unwell patients with Non-Invasive Ventilation and Nasal High Flow Oxygen.
We have a truly excellent team working environment including social events, newsletters and regular Ward Meetings – where we celebrate the staff who have gone above and beyond. As well as this, we have an excellent development program and encourage staff to bring their own amazing improvement ideas to the table.
We are passionate about providing person-centred care and staff are often seen creating opportunities to provide 'out-of-the-box' ways to make our patients feel better.
We offer acute training and a competency programme in speciality areas including Non-Invasive Ventilation and a chest drain competency. You will be offered training in all acute skills such as obtaining ABGs, CVAD and tracheostomy care to help manage our group of patients. Proficiency in each area is supported by senior staff on the ward, our Clinical Education team and Critical Care Outreach. You will also have the opportunity to have weekly respiratory study sessions.
While we don’t need a minimum level of experience in this speciality, we do need you to have a good sense of humour, be improvement-minded and be ready to muck in with the team.
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.
