Job Overview

We have an opportunity for keen, motivated, and enthusiastic Staff Nurses to join our team at Withington Outpatient department. If you are a Registered Nurse who has a passion for delivering high-quality care to patients within an Outpatient environment, then this could be a great opportunity for you.

Our department hosts a variety of specialised clinics such as Cardiology, ENT, Rheumatology, Respiratory, Surgery, and many more. As the RN in clinic, you will often be taking charge of the department, supporting team members and ensuring the smooth running of clinics, assisting clinicians and supporting patients throughout their visit to ensure they receive the best possible care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate, and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • First Level registration - Registered Nurse

Desirable criteria

  • Mentorship
  • Diploma. Degree level 6 study

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of current nursing issues
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance
  • Good use of Microsoft Office package and IT skills

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of wound care
  • Knowledge of complex vascular dressings.

Training and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working on own and as part of a team.
  • Ability to supervise and support junior staff.
  • Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability.
  • Awareness of clinical audit.

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of undertaking a mentor/preceptor role.
  • Experience in outpatient setting.
  • Experience in wound care in other relevant setting.
  • Experience in venepuncture

Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates awareness of own limitations.
