Due to the high demand for critical care beds in and around London, King's is developing too. Our Adult Critical Care service currently consists of 94 beds across 7 critical care units.
We have recently opened a 60 bed state of the art critical care centre, reaffirming our commitment to be at the forefront of technology and innovation. There are ongoing works to create a unique roof garden space where even patients who are on life support will be able to spend time outside, thanks to specially-designed critical care beds, monitoring systems and equipment.
King's is the Major Trauma Centre for the South East London, Kent and Medway (SELKaM) trauma network, and a world leading centre for expertise in liver disease and liver transplantation.
Critical Care Nursing is a highly skilled and compassionate healthcare profession responsible for providing specialised nursing care to critically ill patients. Critical Care Nurses play a crucial role in monitoring, assessing, and managing patients with life-threatening conditions.
Particular emphasis is put at Kings on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, and patient focused manner.
