Are you a compassionate newly qualified or established nurse looking to join a friendly and supportive team? Stanley Purser Ward based in Swanage Community Hospital has the right opportunity for you.

As a Staff Nurse you will be providing care in a 15 bedded nurse led unit, with patient needs ranging from post-fracture rehabilitation, medical diagnoses and treatments through to palliative care. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team and be supported by local doctors 3 days per week and our ANP 5 days a week. The hospital has different departments with different patient groups, including Minor Injuries, Outpatients, Radiology Imaging and Day Surgery.

We support you to develop your skills, expand your knowledge and make a real difference in your patients' lives and abilities. We are an inclusive active team with days out and a lively team chat group. For those who are newly qualified, we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals.

The Staff Nurse post is a full-time role; we would be flexible and welcome part-time applications with a minimum of 30 hours which can be discussed at interview. Shifts listed below:

  1. Long Day - 07.30 - 20.30
  2. Nights - 20.15 - 07.45

Main duties of the job

You will have a caring attitude and a willingness to make a difference. A desire to see elderly and vulnerable people treated with care and respect. Reliability, flexibility, hard work and honesty with a good sense of humour are attributes we value as a ward.

You will need to demonstrate good teamwork skills, strong communication skills with a compassionate nature. Enthusiasm and a commitment to provide the highest standards of care to patients, relatives and carers, and the ability to provide professional clinical leadership. You will need to have an interest in working with older people and have good communication and organisational skills.

In return we can also offer you monthly pay plus enhancements for night, weekend and bank holiday working. A great NHS pension scheme, holiday pay of up to 33 days, plus bank holidays pro rata, dependent on service. NHS discount and salary sacrifice scheme.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
