We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our Hand Trauma Nursing Team within St Andrew's Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery.
This band five role will include working in our regional Hand Trauma Unit as well as assisting in our procedure room.
As a regional trauma centre, we take referrals from all over the south eastern region for hand trauma injuries and triage them appropriately into our specialist services. We see same day emergencies as well as routinely booked patients. We operate in main theatres as well as our own procedure room within the trauma unit seven days a week. Our working environment is fast-paced and ever-changing.
As well as a passion for delivering excellent specialist care, the ideal candidate will possess a keen enthusiasm for developing their own clinical skills in the specialty of plastic surgery and hand trauma. This will include undertaking theatre scrub competencies.
Under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge, the Staff Nurse will be responsible for delivering safe and efficient care to patients attending the Hand Trauma Unit. This will be from assessment, wound examination and dressings, to discharge. For patients returning for surgery, the Staff Nurse will ensure their safe preparation and discharge.
When working within the procedure room, on completion of required competencies, the Staff Nurse will practice in either a Scrub Nurse role or Circulating Nurse role, providing perioperative care for those patients requiring surgery.
