We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a ST3+ Registrar in Emergency Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful A&E department.
Our client is one of the UK's largest and busiest teaching Trusts with a turnover of c£1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 15,000 staff based across South East London. The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites.
The successful appointee will join a dynamic, multi-professional emergency medicine workforce treating a wide spectrum of patients. This is a great opportunity to broaden your experience while working in a friendly, supportive environment with 24/7 senior supervision at all times.
The ED consultant team provides clinical supervision and care delivery 16 hours per day, seven days a week. They also have varied special interests including trauma, frailty, disaster medicine, education, public health, global health and pre-hospital care. There is a strong training culture incorporating lecture-room teaching and clinical supervision, opportunities to attend relevant clinics and courses, and full immersion simulation sessions. Regular scheduled academic time is also built into the rota to allow for Audit, QIP and personal learning/development.
The successful appointee will be joining a department that expects the appointee to fulfil various expectations, these include: to see new patients within the ED, and to be an on-site source of advice and help for more junior doctors in the ED. There will be more senior support available in the department at all times in the form of either an ED consultant or more senior registrar grade doctor. The post-holder will be strongly encouraged to work towards post-graduate examinations, with regular non-clinical academic time built into the rota and job plan where there will be a minimum of 1 full day off per month. The post-holder will be expected to achieve a high level of familiarity with emergency management and to keep abreast of developments in the field of Emergency Medicine.
In fact, there are opportunities for flexible working and career progression to a more senior grade such as the Specialty Doctor role or a formal training post in Emergency Medicine. Our client is based in a beautiful suburb borough on the outskirts of London with close proximity to big international airports, along with access to highly reputable public and private schools within the area.
