The role is intended to elevate Edwards leadership in Public Affairs both externally and internally, broaden external engagement, increase frequency of interactions and develop partnerships at regional levels.

Responsible for managing the relationships with the strategically important organisations within the NHS that will be driving the change toward integrated care, most notably integrated care boards, NHS England regional offices, Scottish/Welsh Health Boards, HINs and Cardiac Networks. The role will lead the implementation in UK Public Affairs strategic plan to secure timely patient access and appropriate funding to the innovative products and solutions that Edwards brings to healthcare systems.

The role will work in close collaboration with Country PA lead, Country Director and local Business leaders and will implement and execute country specific Public Affairs strategic plans in order to secure timely patients’ access to Edwards Lifesciences innovations.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Engaging with NHS authorities at Regional level to ensure successful implementation of market access and procurement strategies, from evidence submissions to advocacy activities, adapting European value propositions to local requirements.
  • Serve as main point of contact for the recently established commissioning bodies within the NHS including integrated care boards and cardiac networks.
  • Monitor and report changes in the health policy and funding environment and conditions for the Edwards Lifesciences portfolio.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the constant engagement of Regional commissioning agencies on Quality and Value topics.
  • Work in close cooperation with Business Units in delivering Edwards value proposition at Regional, local and hospital level, with the engagement and the interaction with all relevant clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
  • Define and implement cross-BU strategies aiming at the prioritization of Structural Heart Disease, patient access to innovation and innovation reward.
  • Team up with the Market Access Director and Country Leader in the implementation of Public Affairs, aimed to elevate role and recognition of Edwards in the healthcare decision makers arena.
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen a network of contacts with policymakers, NHS officials and agencies, in the UK at regional levels.
  • Share in the optimal Edwards representation in the local industry organizations.

What you’ll need:

  • Degree in Political Science, Science, Law, Economics, or Business + at least 8 years of previous related experience.
  • Strong network among government officials, policy makers and payers and an understanding of how things get done, with primary focus on Regional level.
  • Knowledge of healthcare system, policies and trends in the NHS.
  • Recognized as an expert in Public Affairs, Government Affairs and Market Access.
  • Strong Business Acumen - To-do attitude and sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge of health economics.
  • Ability to craft and drive value messages that support Edwards strategy and communicate with various stakeholders in the healthcare system.
  • Ability to cooperate with different functions and teams inside Edwards.
  • Ability to relate and network with key stakeholders inside and outside the company and recommend internal as well as external business solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written. Aptitude to influence senior individuals.
  • Leverage the European resources in support of the UK Market Access agenda.
  • Ability to lead successfully projects and teams in a local as well as international, fast pace matrix environment.
  • Fluent in English.
