Job description

SQL Technician (Night Shift – Temporary Contract)

Location: Remote (following 3-day onsite training in Edinburgh)
Contract Length: 6 Weeks
Rate: £200 per day (Inside IR35)
Working Hours: Midnight – 6:00 AM

We are seeking a detail-oriented SQL Technician to support a high-volume, enterprise-scale SQL Server upgrade project within the hospitality sector. This is a temporary 6-week contract that requires initial onsite training in Edinburgh (3 days), followed by fully remote working.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with the mass upgrade of SQL Server 2014 to SQL Server 2019 during off-peak hours.
  2. Ensure a high level of accuracy and precision throughout the upgrade process.
  3. Produce clear, concise, and well-documented upgrade reports.
  4. Identify, log, and support resolution of break/fix issues during upgrades.
  5. Collaborate on additional upgrade-related tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Requirements:
  1. Proven experience with SQL Server upgrades from 2014 to 2019.
  2. Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  3. Previous experience working in large-scale upgrade projects or enterprise IT environments.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
  5. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
