Job description

Our Sport Hallam coaches are responsible for developing skills, performance, and overall physical and mental wellbeing of our student athletes, teams, and club members. Using their experience and expertise, they will plan and provide personalised coaching and, through effective communication, help guide our students to achieve their full potential. A Sport Hallam coach plays a key role in fostering a positive and supportive environment in line with the Sport Hallam values for our student participants and helps shape goals and contribute to continuous improvement.

Salary: £25,742 to £42,978 (pro rata) dependent on experience / Level 1,2 or 3
Hours: Part Time

The Role

A Sport Hallam coach will also ensure our students adhere to best practice, sportsmanship, safety, and discipline in relation to their specific sport and activity, promoting individual growth and team cohesion. We expect our coaches to nurture a culture of respect, resilience, and a love for the sport.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and leading effective training sessions.
  2. Preparing student athletes for competition.
  3. Attending competition/games days to support student-athletes' performance.
  4. Cultivating a positive team culture built on discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.
  5. Providing coaching expertise to improve the quality and standard of training and development.

The Team

Here at Team Hallam, we have something for everyone. From competitive or performance sport, our clubs offer a chance to play competitively in university sport leagues and tournaments, as well as our annual Varsity competition. We have 40 student-run sports clubs and enter over 65 teams into the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league programme.
