Job Title: Sports Coach Teaching Assistant

Location: Teignbridge, Devon

Position Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday) 8:30 - 3:30

We are looking for an energetic and passionate Sports Coach to join our supportive team as a Teaching Assistant within Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools in Teignbridge, Devon. If you have a talent for engaging students through sports and physical education, we need you to help us inspire young minds and contribute to their physical and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the delivery of PE lessons and the development of sports programs tailored for children with SEND.
2. Use a variety of coaching techniques to engage and motivate students while catering to a range of abilities and individual needs.
3. Help establish a safe and supportive environment for children to develop their physical skills and enjoy participating in sports.
4. Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to integrate physical education with other aspects of students' learning experiences.
5. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to help them set and achieve personal goals.
6. Assist with the planning and execution of sports days, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
7. Encourage positive behavior and social skills through team sports and collaborative exercises.
8. Support students' personal care needs and assist with classroom management when not leading sports activities.
9. Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development related to SEND provision.

Qualifications:

1. Relevant sports coaching qualifications or an equivalent degree in Sports Science or Physical Education.
2. Experience working with children and, preferably, experience working with children with SEND.
3. Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and the welfare of children.
4. Ability to adapt coaching methods to meet the needs of students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. A positive attitude, patience, and resilience when facing challenges.
7. Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undertake this check.
