An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sports Coach to join our outstanding Sports Department at The Glasgow Academy. An expertise in Hockey is essential to deliver first-class hockey coaching to pupils; encouraging them to gain and develop skills, knowledge, and techniques. Knowledge and experience of either Tennis, Cricket, or Athletics would be beneficial in order to deliver and support the summer term sports programme.
The successful candidate will have experience coaching Hockey or playing at a high level, with particular experience of coaching 10 to 18 years olds.
Job description for Part-time, Term-time Sports Coach
Daily working hours would be 1.45pm-4.45pm Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings (timings flexible depending on home or away fixtures). Additional hours may be necessary from time to time at the discretion of the Director of Sport.
This includes six In-Service days, two in August, one in October, one in January, one in April, and one in May.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Sport and liaise with the Head of PE/Head of Hockey (and others as necessary) on all duties related to the Sports/PE department.
This position is part-time (20 hours per week), term time only, on a permanent contract. Any additional hours out with term-time, for example, pre-season training or joining a sports tour, would be considered as part of this role with no additional remuneration.

Meet as necessary with Director of Sport or relevant others to coordinate all required tasks. Travel on a sports bus as required from Kelvinbridge to the School Sports Ground or any other relevant venues. Support departmental annual events within your role, including; Prep & Senior Cross Country, P7 TGA Invitational Hockey Tournament, Parents Information Evening, Swimming Galas, Henderson Challenge, Cricket tournaments, Tennis tournaments, Sports Prize Giving, and Sports Days.
Working Hours:
Monday - Friday, 1.45pm - 4.45pm (may require some flexibility)
Also, Saturday mornings
