Specialism/Team: Paediatrics

Job Type & Hours: Locum - 5x days per week/37.5 hours

Pay Rate: £28.52 per hour (assignment rate)

Main duties:

• Manage a caseload of clients with a range of identified needs, including social communication difficulties and Autism.
• Provide high-quality speech and language therapy in conjunction with families and other professionals, such as Paediatricians.
• Work autonomously as a Specialist or Highly Specialist SLT within the community team, delivering effective services for children with various speech, language, and communication needs.
• Conduct assessments, clinical diagnosis, treatment, and management of communication difficulties in children.
• Evaluate assessment outcomes and provide feedback to parents and professionals as appropriate.
• Devise and deliver highly specialist intervention/care plans for clients with complex communication needs.
• Collaborate with the integrated therapies team to ensure the delivery of coordinated care plans.
• Provide specialist training for other professionals in communication development and difficulties.
• Assist in developing skills related to communication for colleagues and staff.
• Work collaboratively with families and all agencies involved in the child’s care.
• Support the leadership of the children’s speech and language service in Havering.

Requirements of the Speech and Language Therapist/SLT:

• Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration.
• Recent UK/NHS post-qualifying experience as a Speech and Language Therapist.
