Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science or equivalent is essential.
  • Experience in a similar role is preferred.

Job description

A great opportunity has arisen with a leading UK private label food manufacturer supplying to major retailers in the UK. You will be joining as a Specification Technologist to liaise with suppliers and customers to develop and modify product specifications ensuring that they meet with the specified legal and customer requirements and are right first time.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Write specifications generating the recipe information, ingredients declaration, nutritional and allergens information with all relevant legislation
  2. Maintain specifications on the database in conjunction with internal teams and suppliers
  3. Coordinate all information for new product specifications and transferring data into specific factory and customer requirements
  4. Manage QAS completion
  5. Maintain product quality, safety, composition and labelling
  6. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the quality management system
  7. Assist the Technical and NPD teams as required during customer visits and audits

Personal Profile

  1. Food Science Degree or equivalent
  2. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and navigating appropriate useful websites
  3. Previous use of web-based specifications will be advantageous
  4. Ability to collate and present information along with strong research abilities and a keen eye for details, as well as accurate data recording and organisational skills
  5. Experience in a similar role is preferred
