The Physical Disability Physiotherapy Service (PDPS) is a well-established, highly regarded specialist neuro-physiotherapy team in Oxfordshire, dedicated to supporting individuals living with long-term and complex neurological conditions in a community setting. We are excited to offer a secondment opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join our team on a 9-month full-time fixed-term contract, based at Abingdon Community Hospital.
The post holder will work predominantly in South West Oxfordshire with some county-wide outreach work required to support other team members, including within the Oxford city area. A valid UK driving license with access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes is therefore required. You will be joining a team of forward-thinking, innovative Physiotherapists. Opportunities will be available to become actively involved in the delivery of individual and group appointments, supervision of students, and quality improvement projects. Regular supervision will be provided to support development.
The role involves conducting comprehensive neurological assessments and formulating treatment plans tailored to meet the specific needs of service users. This includes working autonomously in a community-based setting, ensuring that each individual receives personalized care.
Service users are seen in a variety of settings, such as their homes, leisure centers, and locality clinics, depending on what is most appropriate for their situation.
Additionally, the role includes providing support to students and Band 4 staff within the team, offering guidance and supervision as needed. There is also an active involvement in ongoing service development initiatives and quality improvement projects, contributing to the continuous enhancement of care delivery.

The service strives to empower service users and their carers to make informed choices about their self-management and to participate in social and leisure activities. Comprehensive assessments are completed in various settings including home visits, clinics, and by digital means. The post holder will sensitively develop personalized treatment and management plans for those living with long-term neurological conditions. Due regard will be given for the service users' physical and psychological needs, along with the environment in which the care will be delivered.
An ability to work autonomously and as a lone worker is vital for this role. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills, alongside an ability to work flexibly. The core service currently runs Monday to Friday, however, some very occasional evening working may be required to meet the needs of the service users.
