Are you a physiotherapist seeking a new challenge and the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of people living with neurological conditions?

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate physiotherapist to join our friendly and dynamic Neurology Therapy Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled clinician with a strong interest in neurology, working across both inpatient, outpatient and community settings. You will play a key role in providing high-quality physiotherapy care to people living with neurological conditions, helping to improve their mobility, independence, and quality of life.

You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge, operational awareness, service improvement and leadership skills. We have an established program of clinical and managerial supervision, and we will expect the successful candidate to be proactive in their approach to professional and service development. You will have the opportunity to attend relevant monthly in-house training, external courses and conferences and take a lead on projects and service development. Training and peer support is available from an experienced, supportive multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should have post-graduate experience working with people living with neurological conditions, and an awareness of complex assessment and patient-centred rehabilitation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a professional and compassionate manner, are essential.

  • Act as an autonomous practitioner to manage a caseload of patients with a variety of neurological conditions, providing specialist assessment and treatment to patients in a variety of service settings.
  • Contribute to service and professional development, support student practice placements and supervise colleagues within the services.
  • Assess, plan, and deliver individualised physiotherapy treatments to patients with a range of neurological conditions.
  • Work with both inpatient, outpatient and community populations, supporting patients with conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Functional Neurological Disorder, Parkinson's Disease and other neurological disorders.
  • Close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, including consultants, Occupational Therapists and nurses, to provide holistic care.
  • Communication with outside agencies and equipment providers.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and provide patient education to promote self-management and prevent future complications.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to clinical audits and research.
  • Provide specialist advice and training to other teams within the trust.

Education, Qualifications and Training
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • Evidence of post graduate training within specialist area (Neurology)
  • Evidence of post graduate qualification or accreditation within specialist area (Neurology)
Experience & Knowledge Required
  • Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal training and supervision.
  • Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations.
  • Experience in assessment and provision of specialist equipment.
  • Experience in delivering clinical treatment within Neurology.
  • Awareness of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice.
  • Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment.
  • Developed / Specialist clinical skills within relevant area.
  • Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area.
  • Delivery of relevant audit/research projects.
