Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales.

We are currently recruiting for an outstanding Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6 equivalent) to join the team at Cygnet Newton House; (Male Mental Health Rehabilitation).

Your Role:

Service Line: Mental Health Rehabilitation

Post: Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6 Equivalent) at Cygnet Newton House

Base: Cygnet Newton House (Blackpool, Lancashire, FY3 8NU)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £39,015- £46,981 (Depending on experience)

Contract: Permanent

Cygnet Newton House:

Cygnet Newton House is a 21-bed specialist high-support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men. The service is dedicated to providing a high-quality environment for promoting long-term recovery.

From the moment an individual arrives, the team works with the individual to maximize positive outcomes and recovery, while focusing on discharge plans to enable the individual to move on to the least restrictive environment for them.

Our interventions are adapted according to individual service user needs in order to maximise their engagement and ensure that progress is being made. Vocational support is provided to assist our service users to build important skills, this may include voluntary work and paid employment.

Our dedicated clinical team provides multi-disciplinary input including occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry, and vocational training. However, we offer more than just specialists and treatments; we value the service users as individuals, help enhance their interests and abilities, encourage them to share their views and help them unlock their talents and aspirations.

We are committed to working in collaboration with service users, family and carers and external professionals in order to support individuals to achieve their goals.

Located 1 mile from Blackpool centre, Cygnet Newton House benefits from being close to plenty of amenities. There are good public transport links in the area with regular buses to the beach and other popular locations - the bus stop is just outside the service.

Main duties:

Clinical: You will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction at Cygnet Newton House. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team (on site) in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge. You will promote the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them being well in life.

This role includes opportunities for learning, development, and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOT's Career Development Framework. At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads, Regional Leads, and our Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, in which Occupational Therapists play a key role.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy Directors, we support over 170 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team, we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist to lead and develop evidence-based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway. We ensure our Occupational Therapists have a voice through participating in service model development and by utilising the expertise and support of our Clinical Lead Occupational Therapists.
