An exciting new opportunity has arisen to take on the role of Specialist Nurse for Children and Young people in Care in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The Children in Care Health Team are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and highly motivated individual to take an important role in the delivery and ongoing development of a service to promote and ensure the delivery of high quality specialist health care to CYP in Care. This is a diverse health role working closely with CYP, their carers, other health professionals and multi-agency workers. You will also be expected to work at the interface between health, local authorities and partner agencies to drive forward the national and local corporate parenting agenda for the health of children in care. Are you an experienced community practitioner; Health Visitor, or School Nurse (with specialist practitioner qualification) with a good level of experience working with Children and Young People in the community at Band 6 or above? Do you have experience in the design and delivery of training and the supervision of colleagues?

Main duties of the job

As part of the Corporate parenting partnership, you will oversee a caseload of children in care, to identify unmet health needs and work within the team to meet these needs.

Person Specification

Qualification and Skills

  • On NMC register - RGN/RSCN/RMN- CAMHS
  • HV or equivalent Specialist Community Public health Practitioner
  • Evidence of ongoing Dynamic professional development within a speciality linked to desirable clinical competencies
  • Possession of a relevant degree or studying towards
  • Teaching qualification

Experience

  • High level post registration experience including experience within a relevant clinical setting
  • Experience of managing a caseload
  • Experience of effective teamwork and leading others
  • Experience of change management and problem solving
  • Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints
  • Teaching and assessing experience
  • 2 years post SCPHN experience
  • Sexual health
  • Research and Audit

  • Excellent advanced clinical skills.
