Job description

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team that undertakes specialised cross sectional imaging procedures at a consistently high technical level and professional standard.

Work in line with service need and within professional scope of practice. You will represent the imaging department at all times, leading, supporting and coordinating service provision as required. Participate in regular clinical audit and quality assurance testing to promote continuous improvement in service delivery and quality within imaging.

Main duties of the job

  1. Perform MRI and CT scans on Paediatric patients to produce high quality diagnostic images.
  2. Demonstrate levels of responsibility and initiative whilst supervising recently qualified radiographers, support workers and students.
  3. Assess, prioritise and organise own workload within assigned area of work.
  4. Follow policies, procedures and protocols relating to and underpinning the radiology service in line with guidance from Royal College of Radiologists and College of Radiographers.
  5. Participate in a 24/7 on-call provision as rostered including weekends and bank holidays.
  6. Be responsible for own CPD, and professional and personal development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • BSc Honours Diagnostic Radiography or DCR(R)
  • HCPC Registration

Desirable
  • Certificate in administering IV Injections

Personal Skills/Abilities and Attributes

Essential
  • Ability to concentrate on the task at hand and be able to cope with highly charged situations.
  • Punctual and flexible across hours of work.
  • Recognise and effectively deal with traumatic and emotional situations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism appropriate to patient/carers needs.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential
  • CT and/or MRI experience.
  • Evidence of personal and professional development.
  • 3 years experience as a Band 5 Radiographer.
  • Demonstrated interest in paediatrics.

Analytical and Judgement Skills

Essential
  • Evidence of ability to make autonomous clinical decisions.
  • Able to act using sound emotional intelligence particularly when managing conflict.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.

Professional / Managerial / Specialist Knowledge

Essential
  • PACS, RIS and IT experience with good Microsoft Knowledge.
  • Good attendance record.
  • Evidence of MDT working.

Desirable
  • Experience of IV cannulation/contrast administration.
