An established industry player is seeking dynamic and motivated individuals for a 12-month apprenticeship in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing. Successful candidates will be expected to engage and utilise learning opportunities, both in community and HEI settings. During the programme a named supervisor will be responsible for the supervision and training whilst in practice, whilst continuing to work with the NMC Code and within the local policies and procedures of the supporting Trust for the legal and statutory requirements relating to clinical practice.
They will be expected, as the course progresses, to act independently with supervision and be responsible for a structured caseload when on consolidated practice with the aim to deliver a public health service.
To ensure that by the end of the course post holders have developed the knowledge base, skills and competencies work of a Community Public Health Practitioner - School Nurse.
They will develop skills and competencies to enable them to have on-going responsibility for the assessment of children and families with complex or single-care needs.
They will also develop skills and competencies to ensure they can implement and evaluate a programme of care in partnership with other agencies, ensuring the delivery of prescribed high-quality care through effective leadership of the nursing team.
During supervised practice the post holders will have delegated responsibility for a selected generic caseload and under supervision will provide assessment of care needs; the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a designated client population.
Trafford Local Care Organisation are looking to recruit dynamic, motivated nurses to undertake the 12-month Apprenticeship Specialist Community Public Health: School Nursing Qualification. Salary will be on a Band 5. Studies will be undertaken at Manchester Metropolitan University for 50% of the course and the remaining 50% in practice. You will be employed on a fixed-term contract for the duration of the course. Successful applicants will complete an individualised learning programme which will be documented in their Personal Portfolio of Learning. The University's award will be a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health Nursing therefore studying at Level 7. The professional qualification will be registered on the NMC Professional Register. Applicants need 120 academic credits at Level 6 for MSc or should demonstrate the ability to study independently at Level 7. Internal (seconded) candidates must approach their Line Manager/Training Dept to discuss the potential for a secondment arrangement with their employer.
