Main duties of the job

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds? As a Health Visitor in our team, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering universal, enhanced, and intensive health services that uplift and empower communities across Oldham.

Be responsible and accountable for the operational caseload management of a 0-5yrs universal or targeted caseload and the delivery of high-quality programmes of care to infants, children and their families using a multidisciplinary approach. Deliver the 0-5yrs Healthy Child Programme Public Health Nursing.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current Registration as a Midwife or Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register.
  • Registered Specialist Community Health Public Nurse (SCPHN) in Health Visiting or due to complete in the near future.
  • Registered Independent Nurse prescriber.

Desirable

  • Non-medical Nurse Prescriber V300.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.

Professional registration

Essential

  • Current NMC Registration.

Knowledge, Training and experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of recent legislation impacting on Community Health Care and Health Visiting practice.
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge acquired through CPD and experience.
  • Displays a good clinical knowledge which is based on research evidence.
  • Evidence of ability to coordinate and organise work both on an individual basis and within a team.
  • Good understanding of local and national policies relating to child health.
  • Experience of working with different communities including minority and ethnic groups.
  • Experience of community development working.

Desirable

  • Evidence of involvement in change/project management.
  • Evidence of additional training relevant to role (motivational interviewing /Solihull approach /NBO).
  • Experience of managing staff following HR management procedures.
