Job description

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking for an established Podiatrist to join the Community Podiatry Team, site based in Poole, Parkstone and East Dorset. Therefore, being a driver is essential for this role.

As the Senior Podiatrist you will cover a range of podiatry services. Our work focuses on routine and ulcer care for patients with high-risk feet including those with diabetes, rheumatoid conditions and other complex health backgrounds. You will have excellent communication, organisational, interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for improving patient care. The ability to liaise effectively with patients, other podiatry colleagues and the wider members of the healthcare team such as GPs, district nurses, and MDTs to ensure timely delivery of care and treatment will be important.

In return, we offer a fantastic induction programme and pastoral support, excellent learning and development opportunities. An in-house programme of CPD, study days and clinical rotations, as well as regular clinical supervision, team meetings and 1:1s.

The Senior Community Podiatry role is a full-time position; we would be flexible and welcome part-time applications with a minimum of 30 hours. We do try to consider where people live and keep travelling to a minimum to accommodate a positive work-life balance.

If you are interested in moving to Dorset, we also offer a generous relocation package of up to £10,000. For further details on relocation expenses please email dhc.careers@nhs.net

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside our hospital diabetic foot care services and community podiatry services. You will be responsible for:

  1. The assessment, diagnosing, planning and implementation of high-risk podiatric care, including ulcer management, for patients with a wide range of clinical needs.
  2. Providing education and health promotion.
  3. Providing a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery which always considers people's safety, privacy, and dignity.
  4. Providing specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of patients/service users.
  5. Providing supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support to students, apprentices and trained practitioners.

You will be part of the Podiatry Team working mainly in the East of the county of Dorset. We have a 60 strong team including an admin support team who manage the appointments for the service.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
