Specialist Children's Bladder and Bowel Nurse
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust

Investment in a Coventry and Warwickshire wide Children's Bladder and Bowel Service has created exciting new opportunities for highly motivated paediatric Bladder and Bowel Nurses. They will join the Coventry team as part of the CYP Community Nursing Service and will take a key role in the delivery of a wide range of services for bladder and bowel dysfunction for CYP across Coventry and Warwickshire.

We are delighted to offer this dynamic role which permits you to develop excellent working relationships with the wider nursing, education, and public health services in the delivery of tremendous continence care across our diverse population.

You will be responsible for supporting parents, carers, education, local authority and other health professionals to meet the needs of the child/young person. You will be given specialist training in continence treatment, bladder scanning, medication according to NICE guidelines and other strategies used for children with incontinence.

We are looking for someone with significant experience working with CYP in a variety of settings. Experience in paediatric continence is expected with support to develop the more specialist knowledge and skills. Experience working in special schools or public health nursing would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job
  1. To participate in the development of strategy for promoting and managing Continence across Coventry and Warwickshire.
  2. To provide advice and training on the promotion of continence for individual patients, staff, and representatives of other statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations, as required.
  3. To be responsible for assessing the needs of individuals in the community, clinics, and school settings, who are experiencing bladder and or bowel dysfunction.
  4. To plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care including liaising with statutory social and voluntary agencies and to provide specialist advice to patients, families, carers, and professionals.
  5. To co-ordinate care and supervise the team alongside fellow colleagues always ensuring staff and patient safety.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience working with CYP with continence needs
  • Significant experience in children's nursing in a variety of settings
  • Knowledge and skills in specialist continence management
  • Experience working in special schools or in a public health nursing role
Other
  • Car owner/driver, or suitable alternative transport to enable you to undertake the job - and be prepared to be insured for business use. (It is unlikely that public transport will meet this requirement). If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.
Qualifications
  • Registered Children's Nurse who holds effective registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Registered adult or LD nurse with significant children's experience
