Want to take the next step in your career within Haematology and Blood Transfusion? Have you completed your specialist portfolio or have substantial NHS experience? Then we have the opportunity for you.
You will join a friendly, busy department with a close working relationship with our clinical consultant staff. We are MHRA compliant and UKAS accredited.
We have unsociable hours and a locally agreed fixed payment for night shifts. An enhanced relocation package may be available.
Our vision is to deliver innovations and high-performing pathology services that focus on our customers and deliver high quality, fully compliant services.
We are clinically led and designed to achieve the benefits of scale by working together to meet our service users' needs and support the excellent clinical care provided by our hospitals.
We are committed to attracting, developing, and retaining the best pathology staff. We encourage our staff to undertake internal and external courses to aid their development. You will play an integral part in helping to train our junior staff to develop their skills and careers.
We have a well-designed, up-to-date lab with Grifols analysers in blood transfusion, blood track, and Contronics temperature monitoring system. In haematology and coagulation, we have Sysmex XNs and ACL TOPS. For quality management, we use the Q-Pulse system. We are also in the process of upgrading our existing LIMS system (winpath enterprise).
You will enjoy a varied range of responsibilities from maintaining the quality management system and UKAS accreditation, training less experienced members of staff, validating and authorising results, and most importantly providing quality service for our patients.
You will be expected to resolve complex equipment or process problems and perform manual, semi-automated, and fully automated laboratory investigations, including specialist investigations, within the defined service area accurately and efficiently.
You will participate in the day-to-day management of stock control and usage. This may include maintaining Blood Transfusion and Haematology stock levels and records and monitoring usage to ensure efficient use where appropriate.
