Job Overview

Maternity Cover - 12 month fixed term

We are looking for an enthusiastic, HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with relevant post-registration experience to join the multidisciplinary team in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Biochemistry at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

We would like to appoint a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist, to assist with the provision of a diagnostic service and support the delivery of a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week service as part of a 37.5 hour working week - including evenings, nights, weekends, and bank/public holidays.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to train in relevant disciplines and to rotate through all sections of the department. You may be required to work on any of our other sites, as the need arises.

Working for your organisation

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital (SaTH) Pathology Services are accredited to UKAS standards. The Biochemistry section is equipped with Roche Cobas 6000 analysers and Roche pre-analytics and middleware. The Haematology section is equipped with a Sysmex XN and CS2500 analysers. Automated Biorad Equipment is in use in the Blood Transfusion Department. The department is an approved IBMS/HCPC training laboratory and continuous professional development is actively encouraged.
