When working with children with special educational needs, you need to be patient, understanding, and extremely caring towards the students as each student’s story is different.

When assigned to a student, you will receive their EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) which will advise of their requirements and needs for you to be able to plan how you will deliver the tuition. You will be required to mark the student’s work and be comfortable producing an accurate report on the child’s progress.

This role has negotiable working hours depending on your availability and the availability of the student.

As a SEND Tutor, these are some of the needs you may come across:

  • ASD (Autism)
  • ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • MLD (Mild Learning Difficulties)
  • SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional Mental Health)
  • PLD (Physical Learning Difficulties)
  • Trauma
  • Impaired Hearing
  • Impaired Vision

To be a successful SEND Tutor, you will need:

  • Sensitivity and understanding
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Active listening skills
  • The ability to look after children's physical, social, and emotional welfare
  • Flexibility and openness to change
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • The ability to adapt teaching support according to students' needs

Other essential requirements include:

  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure on the update service is an advantage, but we can apply for one for you if needed
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable)
  • Professional reference checks
  • CV must cover the last 5 years of employment history where possible
  • Legal right to work in the UK

In return for the above, you can expect to receive:

  • A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to help you with the easy onboarding process
  • Guaranteed payment scheme (Terms and conditions apply)
  • CPD Courses and certificates as part of the My-Progression channel

Our staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can rest assured that you will be paying the right level of TAX and National Insurance.
