Unique opportunity for an ambitious and impressive finance lawyer to join the well regarded Banking & Finance Practice of a major global offshore law firm in Jersey! This is the chance to play a key role in helping to build out the firm’s Channel Islands' Banking & Finance Practice so as to become the leading practice in the region.

The successful candidate will be based in the Firm's Jersey office and will work alongside leading practitioners in that office in expanding out the Jersey Banking & Finance Practice in line with the general expansion across all of the firm's practice groups in the Channel Islands. The level of autonomy offered to the successful candidate, and their involvement in the business building aspects of the practice, will be commensurate with this potential for career development.

The successful candidate will be based in Jersey, joining a 14 lawyer-strong team of leading banking lawyers, working on behalf of corporations, private equity sponsors, arrangers, debt funds and financial institutions. The firm’s banking practice covers the full range of banking and finance transactional work, including real estate finance, development finance, acquisition finance, secured lending, listings, fund finance matters, structured finance and securitisation.

Nature of the Role:

• Senior Counsel in the Firm's Banking & Finance Practice in Jersey.
• Providing technically sound advice and a highly responsive service externally to clients and internally by way of support, as needed, to colleagues, senior counsel and partners on all client matters.
• Managing files in accordance with the Firm's requirements, expectations and practices from time to time.
• Proactively assisting in developing and expanding client relationships. This will involve taking ownership of the development of relationships with core clients and participating in associate-led business development initiatives.

Education, Skills & Experience Needed:

• Qualified as a lawyer in Jersey, Guernsey, the UK or the Republic of Ireland;
• Minimum of 8 years PQE advising on banking law matters at another major law firm in either Jersey, Guernsey, the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland;
• Excellent academics;
• Ambitious and commercially driven;
• Jersey jurisdiction experience and/or familiarity with offshore financial service providers preferred but not essential.
