Job description

Leading specialist in the global audit of development institutions seeks outgoing and independent audit professional with Spanish language skills, keen to focus on the overseas NGO sector.

As an Audit Senior, you will lead meetings with client institutions and their grant beneficiaries, coordinate and lead audit teams carrying out our fieldwork globally and write audit reports, critical to the long-term success of worthwhile programmes. You will play a vital role in representing the organisation in person leveraging your language capabilities before multiple & diverse stakeholders which can include multiple international development agencies and NGO partners.

You'll be required to travel internationally (up to 50%), dependent on the requirements of the assignments. Perform remote audits managing teams both on-site and virtually. You'll acquire an in-depth understanding of the development sector and the activities of the international donors. This role requires fluency in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a tailored plan for all assignments based on a good understanding of the terms of reference and the applicable contractual conditions.
  • Lead opening meetings with clients and auditees and present the audit findings clearly and credibly at closing meetings.
  • Lead assignment fieldwork teams, including locally based staff, on overseas assignments, or working alone.
  • Identify issues and areas of non-compliance on an assignment and write them up as findings in a detailed, precise and clear way in the assignment report.
  • Lead larger country-wide teams, acting as the client focal point.
  • Deliver client work to tight deadlines and manage time effectively.

Essential skills

  • A professional accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • A genuine interest in international development and a love of travel.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication in English and Spanish is a minimum criteria.
  • An ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders in a professional, constructive and respectful manner.
  • Have a proven track record in audit and assurance work.

Desirable skills

  • Experience of working or volunteering internationally.

Behaviours

  • Be prepared to be out of the office on international assignments for up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to work alone on small assignments.
