Job description

Sous Chef / Assistant Chef who has a passion to develop and provide the highest quality food with excellent time-management, organisational and team working skills is required to join and work alongside a talented kitchen brigade at a well-established private members multi-sports and social club based in London SW15.

SALARY: £44,600 per annum + Paid Overtime + Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: South West London (SW15)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 45 hours per week

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Sous Chef / Assistant Chef who has a passion to develop and provide the highest quality food with excellent time-management, organisational and team working skills. Working as a Sous Chef / Assistant Chef you will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistently high-quality dishes while mentoring and inspiring your team to achieve culinary excellence. As a Sous Chef / Assistant Chef you thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a deep love for exceptional food, and are eager to grow your skills alongside a talented kitchen team.

DUTIES

  1. Develop and implement the menu for the restaurant in liaison with the Head Chef
  2. Develop new healthy option dishes for members and children in the Restaurant and Club Cafe
  3. Train and supervise the Chef de Parties and Commis Chef’s work in all sections
  4. Coordinate with Executive Head Chef to develop the weekly specials
  5. Supervise kitchen food wastage
  6. Help the Pastry Chef develop pastry dishes & cakes
  7. Ensure the highest quality of product within cost constraints by supervising and participating in the preparation of food
  8. Follow HACCAP principles
  9. Support the Head Chef in the effective management of staff within department
  10. Ensure that the staff demonstrate the correct attitudes and behaviours for a smooth operation
  11. Provide employees with the information needed to perform their job effectively
  12. Provide support to new employees within the department and provide on-the-job training
  13. Prioritise and assign work within the sections
  14. Give personal attention, take personal responsibility and use teamwork when providing a member’s service
  15. Interact with Members to obtain feedback on food quality and service levels and effectively respond to and handle member problems and complaints

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Thorough understanding of Health & Safety and hygiene practices at work
  2. The ability to proactively prioritise needs and effectively manage resources and time
  3. NVQ level 2 or equivalent
