The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Sonographer to join our friendly team. You must be available to work at either of our Trust sites - Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital.

We are looking for a motivated Sonographer with excellent communication skills to provide a high quality service to our patients and trainees. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your ultrasound skills and actively participate in the running of the department. There will be a high degree of autonomy and this post will offer every opportunity to fully utilise your professional skills.

Requests from newly-qualified Sonographers will be considered. Interviews will be face-to-face. A practical assessment will be undertaken as part of the interview process.

Main duties of the job
  • Be responsible for scanning patients and producing independent reports of these scans in line with departmental guidelines;
  • Take an active role in teaching and practical training of student Sonographers, specialist registrars, and others in training;
  • Participate in the management of the ultrasound department and in the audit and clinical governance programs;
  • Communicate with patients, their relatives, and others about the purpose of the examinations and the scan results (in line with departmental guidelines).
  • Develop one's own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others, identifying any training needs to the Lead Sonographer;
  • Plan and prioritise one's own workload and that of the section to ensure the efficient flow of work, keeping waiting times to a minimum and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
Person Specification
  • HCPC/SVT/RCM registration
  • BSc in radiography/Midwifery
  • Experience scanning Abdominal, gynaecology, Obstetrics, Small parts, DVT, Carotid and vascular scans on both inpatient and outpatients
  • Participation in clinical audit
  • PG Dip in Obstetrics and General Medical Ultrasound
  • Short courses adding to CPD
  • Experience scanning diagnostic MSK, Head and Neck or Paediatrics

Salary: £51,883 to £58,544 a year (incl. of HCAA), plus annual R&R payment of £5,000
