Job description

Job Title: Solution Architect

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience.

What you'll be doing:

  1. Design and implement enterprise level solutions for engineering and design in complex manufacturing environments.
  2. Defining Solution Options in line with customer requirements.
  3. Work with technology and software partners to resolve complex technical issues.
  4. Manage governance processes to ensure Solution build matches architectures and design.
  5. Producing high level designs to gain quotations from the IT service provider and mobilise IT projects.
  6. You will be supporting the demand management meetings to help route demand appropriately to delivery teams.
  7. Producing Architecture Packs to communicate the complexities surrounding customer demand.
  8. Aligning incoming demand to the functional and overall strategic roadmap.
  9. Undertaking business analysis with customers and eliciting their requirements.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  1. Hold experience with both CAD and PLM, including a broad understanding/experience of designing and implementing solutions to support engineering programmes.
  2. Ability to communicate at all levels and at business change communication events.
  3. Competent in identifying risks and opportunities.

Desirable:

  1. Experience of ERP product suites or similar for use on manufacturing projects.
  2. Used an Architecture repository toolset such as Enterprise Architect and an Architecture modelling framework.
  3. General understanding of Cloud architectural principles.

The Product Development Architecture team:

By joining the team, you will have a fantastic opportunity to be heavily involved in our largest Submarine programme and work with our external partners to support in the invention/creation of the submarine design and build. The shipyard has senior commitment and ambition to strengthen the submarine design discipline exploiting digital thread capabilities to improve business performance. The role will be part of the team inventing this future capability. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
