Role: Energy Officer (Solar)

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker with frequent site visits as required by the business.

Salary: Grade G - £35,235 - £37,938 per annum

Location: Harvey Road, NG8 3BB

About The Role

As an Energy Officer with Nottingham City Council Housing Services, you will work alongside the Head of Sustainable Energy, Programme Manager, Energy Officer and Technical Officer and others to develop, improve and deliver Solar services on communal energy schemes and social homes to the highest possible standard.

We will look to you to manage the Solar PV system accounts, liaise and negotiate with external contractors, the building supplies industry, council services and other relevant organisations and stakeholders. You will be responsible for reviewing new proposals and ideas relating to energy services and schemes to ensure our properties are at the forefront of solar innovation in social homes. Part of your role will include gathering, analysing and reporting accurate data for a range of purposes, including PV, communal energy, strategy development, research projects and more to ensure the Energy team are as effective as possible.


About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Suitable knowledge (both technical and intellectual) of solar systems including relevant legislation, regulations, statutory guidance, standards of performance relating to solar energy systems.
  • Experience of developing, managing, recommending, distributing, and maintaining information on solar assets, working with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to understand and analyse large amounts of information and disseminate to audiences of varying knowledge levels and abilities.
  • Educated to degree level - Desirable that it is a relevant degree related to buildings, energy, or engineering, or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to effectively manage and/or engage with contractors, service providers or project teams and co-ordinate administrative, technical, and procedural compliance to ensure satisfactory service.
  • Ability to visit tenants in their homes and communicate sometimes complex and technical information to people with varying levels of knowledge and understanding of solar energy.
