Software Tester

Working with a longstanding client of mine, I am currently looking for a new Software Tester/QA based in the Durham area.

You will be a manual tester, with a degree of Automation preferably but not essential. You will be working with the Software Engineering manager to improve the quality of their products. This role will initially be office based for the first 3-6 months moving to a hybrid basis.

The role will concentrate on Manual Testing for the first 6-12 months with the idea being it will evolve into more of an automation-based role - ideally sooner rather than later.

Main Responsibilities And Expectations Include:

1. Execute manual testing for newly released software components.
2. Execute testing in all required levels (sanity, regression, system, performance, etc.) for new software releases.
3. Participate in technical requirements and design reviews, providing feedback from a testing point of view.
4. Work closely with software engineers in the resolution of problems.
5. Define new tests and update existing ones, to meet the requirements.
6. Execute automated testing.
7. Analyze test results to ensure existing functionality and assist in pinpointing issues.

Qualifications:

1. Solid working knowledge of software development lifecycle and testing lifecycle, including relevant documentation.
2. Hands-on experience in software testing of large-scale systems.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Experience with industry standard tools such as: TFS, Office.
5. Good problem-solving skills.
6. Out of the box thinker.
7. Self-learner.

Distinct Advantage:

1. Experience with automation tools.
2. Knowledge in a scripting language.
3. Experience with HW.
4. Experience with the Agile methodology.
