Software Test Engineer - eDV

Location: Manchester OR Gloucester (mostly onsite)

Role details:

Our client, a prominent player in the defence & security sector, is seeking a Test Engineer to join their dynamic team. This permanent, full-time role can be based in either Gloucester or Manchester, with the potential for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Apply test skills and experience within the context of an Agile software delivery team
2. Create and maintain automated test frameworks
3. Define and manage test environments; create and manage test data; define and manage test tools
4. Support estimation of test activities
5. Support test team interactions with the wider development team and assist in the resolution of issues
6. Contribute to the production of test documents using appropriate tools as required
7. Raise defects and support the wider development team in their resolution
8. Manage creation of automated and manual test scripts
9. Produce test and deployment strategies and plans in compliance with customer project guidelines

Job Requirements:

Essential Skills:

1. Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum/DevOps delivery model
2. Experience of deploying and configuring complex software under Linux/Windows
3. Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and demonstrable evidence of relevant test methodologies and toolsets
4. Experience producing test plans and reports using applicable tools

Desirable Skills/Experience:

1. Experience of test automation frameworks and tools
2. Experience of scripting languages and scripting for automation
3. Knowledge of AWS and/or Azure
4. Familiarity with Continuous Integration
5. Linux system administration
6. Ability to review and apply different tools and techniques e.g. monitoring, logging, performance testing
