Job description

Are you interested in developing software for one of the most cutting-edge defence and aerospace projects in the UK? Leonardo is looking for a talented Software Engineer Team Lead to join us in developing software for the radar system currently in development for the 6th generation Stealth Fighter jet - Tempest.

We are looking to grow this team primarily in our newest UK site in Newcastle. There you will help us continue our industry leading contribution to projects in our Radar team.

What you’ll do as a Software Team Lead:

Support the new and growing teams in Newcastle to deliver work through:

  • Involvement in the recruitment process as the office grows further
  • Regular 121’s and performance reviews to support their career growth
  • Coach the team in Agile and Scrum
  • Improve the day-to-day efficiency of the team, acting as an escalation point to remove blockers
  • Own the performance metrics for the team
  • Support the work, showing a grasp of the work that is being done by the team and an ability to step in and technically support when required.

What we need from you:

While we understand that the perfect candidate doesn't always exist, we really need the following experience for success as a senior level C++ Software Engineer at Leonardo:

  • Team leadership experience
  • Scrum Master experience, preferably certified
  • Come from a technical software background, preferably using C++, or similar, with OOD (Object Oriented Design) techniques.
  • Experience of full software lifecycle documentation artefacts.
