Software Solutions & Test Engineer

The Role:

This is part of our Public Safety Solutions business unit where we develop and deploy Command, Control and Communication software solutions used by police forces, ambulance services, fire and rescue services, airports and public transport agencies. Our software applications help these organisations to manage critical incidents, respond to people in distress and ultimately help make people and society safer.

Solutions & Test Engineer works with the development team to create, execute and inspect robust test plans, enabling the development & configuration of solutions or enabling features or integrations. The role has a particular focus on ensuring the effective testing of solutions before deployment to customer environments ensuring quality is maintained to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities:

• Support testing including planning, scripting and test execution as required (creating and executing test cases, logging defects etc.)
• Support development team to ensure adequate end-to-end testing during sprints, release cycles and before deployment to customer sites
• Test configuration solutions for customers (enablement of SAFE features, integrations to external services/products etc)
• Attend customer sites to test SAFE solutions and integrations as part of SIT and SAT events
• Supporting the creation of Test documentation as required
• Ensuring all test standards and procedures are adhered to

Experience/Qualifications:

Essential:

• Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and Software Quality Assurance
• Strong experience of functional and non-functional testing
• Knowledge and experience of Agile methodologies, including Scrum.
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality and continuous improvement
• Excellent communications skills, time management, planning and organisational skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic, and committed to testing
• Experience of using test management tools, including Testrail and/or Atlassian or similar
• Able to interpret requirements and high-level technical designs to contribute towards test design and scope
• Confident in presenting test results and system demonstrations to stakeholders, including customers
• Relevant SQA qualification - ISEB/ ISTQB Foundation/intermediate level

Preferred:

• Experience in testing SIP Telephony Solutions and integrations
• Experience in testing complex mission critical software solutions (e.g. Telephony/ICCS)
• Experience in testing Telephony integrations including Call Recording, MI reporting, IVR, Telephony Performance Stats, Audio Quality testing
• Experience of maintaining and configuring applications and test environments

Desirable:

• Experience of automated testing frameworks / Automated testing tools
• Experience working with SQL DB for test verification
• Basic development experience/skills
• C#/.NET experience / skills
