Software Project Engineer (PLC / SCADA)

Location: Warwick
Salary: Up to £50,000 + 10% Bonus + Benefits
Travel: UK & Overseas (as required)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexi-time available (core hours: 9:00-12:00 & 13:30-15:30)

The Role

Exciting opportunity for a Software Project Engineer to work on a variety of automation and control system projects. The role is hands-on, involving PLC and SCADA programming, system design and commissioning, supporting projects from concept to completion. You'll be working with Siemens (TIA Portal, Step 7) and Rockwell (ControlLogix) PLCs, developing robust control systems for industries such as automotive, manufacturing and process automation.

You'll be involved in designing, coding, testing and troubleshooting software and control systems, ensuring they meet customer specifications and performance requirements. The role requires a mix of office-based development and on-site commissioning, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams. Some UK and international travel will be required.


What You'll Be Doing
  1. PLC programming - Developing solutions using Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal and Rockwell ControlLogix.
  2. SCADA & HMI development - Creating user-friendly interfaces using JavaScript, C#, or VB Script.
  3. System design & documentation - Writing functional design specifications and bench test procedures.
  4. Testing & fault-finding - Debugging and optimising control systems to ensure high performance.
  5. On-site commissioning - Working with customers to install and fine-tune automation systems (UK & overseas).
  6. Customer & supplier collaboration - Ensuring systems meet client needs and are delivered on time.
  7. Project ownership - Supporting projects through development, testing and commissioning, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.

What We're Looking For
  1. HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation or similar field.
  2. Experience with PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7, Rockwell ControlLogix).
  3. Experience with SCADA/HMI development (WinCC, Wonderware Intouch).
  4. A background in industrial automation, control systems or machine integration.
  5. Experience working for a Tier 1 Supplier or Systems Integrator.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills - able to diagnose and fix control system faults.
  7. Confident communicator - comfortable liaising with customers, suppliers and teams.
  8. Full UK driving licence - ability to travel when required.
