We have a great opportunity for an experienced Verification and Validation (V&V) Software Engineering Manager to lead our efforts in ensuring the development and compliance of high-integrity software solutions, particularly in accordance with DO-178C standards, with a newly formed team within our Real-Time Embedded Software Department!
Salary: Circa £80,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically 3 to 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
You will grow, lead, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet project timelines and quality standards whilst providing mentorship and technical guidance to team members, fostering growth and expertise in DO-178C practices.
Collaborating with multi-functional teams to achieve project objectives within schedule and budget constraints, you will oversee and monitor the development of Verification and Validation strategies, processes, and documentation to comply with DO-178C objectives and lifecycle data requirements, implementing automated and manual testing strategies to ensure robust software validation as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in the aerospace or safety-critical systems domain, combined with proven leadership and organisational skills. This role is crucial to ensuring the delivery of reliable and certifiable software for mission critical applications ensuring the traceability of all software requirements through design, implementation, and testing phases.

This role comes with a diverse set of challenges around the meticulous adherence to high-integrity software practices, development, review and approval of verification and validation plans, test procedures and test results in alignment with safety-critical software standards.
What we're looking for from you:
Essential:
Proven experience of meticulous adherence to high-integrity software practices, including software requirement analysis, design, testing, and traceability.
A passion for driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the Verification and Validation processes.
A strong understanding of software development processes, including requirements analysis, design, and testing.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interface effectively with technical and non-technical collaborators on Verification and Validation progress, risks, and mitigations.
Desirable:
In-depth knowledge of DO-178C standards, including all certification levels (A-D).
Certification or training in safety-critical systems or quality standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ARP4754A).
Hands-on experience with model-based development and verification (e.g., Simulink, SCADE).
Experience working in aerospace, defence, or other regulated industries.
Experience with tools and methodologies for software lifecycle management (e.g., DOORS, LDRA, etc).
