Software Engineer Team Leader (TypeScript, React, AWS)

Our client is looking to recruit a Software Engineer Team Leader. As a Software Engineering Team Leader, you will supervise and manage a team of 3-4 software engineers, ensuring smooth team operations and effective collaboration. You will foster an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture, managing workloads and maintaining a positive attitude in challenging situations. Your role involves setting clear team goals, and actively contributing to the development of both people and practices, and responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality web applications, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient solutions. This is a hands-on development role (75% of your time) and Team Leading (25% of your time).

Key responsibilities of the Software Engineer Team Leader:

1. Lead and manage a software engineering team, fostering an open and collaborative environment.
2. Work directly with the Software Engineering Manager, other Engineering Team Leaders, Product Managers, Technical Product Owners, and Infrastructure Engineers to ensure high-standard feature delivery.
3. Collaborate with the Product Design Team to create optimal user experiences.
4. Oversee the software development lifecycle to ensure timely delivery of products according to the roadmap.
5. Report on project progress and highlight any risks that may affect timelines.
6. Contribute to the team’s working practices and technology decisions, defining and developing a Sprint backlog.
7. Design, develop, and maintain web applications using TypeScript and React.
8. Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
9. Implement serverless architecture and services using AWS (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, etc.).
10. Write clean, maintainable, and testable code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.
11. Troubleshoot and debug applications to optimise performance and user experience.
12. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Key requirements for the Software Engineer Team Leader:

1. Strong verbal and written communication skills for various audiences.
2. Experience in managing change effectively.
3. Ability to resolve conflicts and disagreements effectively.
4. Experience in Agile software development methodologies/frameworks such as Scrum.
5. Proven ability to deliver technical design within web applications using Typescript, React and Rust.
6. Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a strong focus on TypeScript and React.
7. Experience with AWS services and cloud-based application development.
8. Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
9. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git).
10. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
