Job description

As the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, CME Group (www.cmegroup...) is looking for a highly talented Software Engineer in Test (SET) to join the Systems Integration Team in Belfast. The successful candidate will help deliver mission-critical projects on CME's Globex electronic trading platform.

The SET will work with application SMEs, developers, and analysts to understand complex business and technical problems across multiple applications. A key aspect of this role includes the development and enhancement of automated tests and the ongoing development of our test framework, compatible with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

The creation of test strategies and test plans together with the support and maintenance of a large and complex test environment both on-prem and in the Cloud are also critical to this role.

Our Engineers understand the criticality of non-functional requirements and excel in working across dozens of components where considerations of reliability, security, and performance are paramount.

Principal Accountabilities
  1. Design and develop automated test scripts using Python and Robot Framework.
  2. Analyse and interpret business/stakeholder requirements; translate these requirements into test scenarios.
  3. Creation of test strategies, planning & execution/implementation of automated test cases.
  4. End to end Integration testing; identify and log defects and verify defect resolution.
  5. Maintain test framework, test environments and automated test packs.
  6. Continuously improve the test automation framework and processes.
  7. Contribute to improving team processes and methodologies and following best practices.
  8. Competent in Python, Java or alternative object-oriented language(s).
  9. Competent working in a Linux command line driven environment.
  10. Experience of writing and refactoring both manual and automated tests that touch multiple applications, databases, message transports.
  11. Experience with various messaging services such as Apache Kafka, Tibco FTL, Pub/Sub.
  12. Oracle experience with a competence using SQL.
  13. Ability to understand compound business requirements quickly, and to define clear acceptance criteria.
  14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  16. Knowledge of financial markets, financial messaging protocols, and in particular FIX.
  17. Working in an Agile environment using Jira, Confluence, Splunk, Jenkins.
  18. Experience in using Robot Framework.
  19. Experience with cloud computing.
