As part of Detection and Measurement, Radiodetection is a global leader in the design and development of equipment and software used by utility companies to install, protect, and maintain underground infrastructure networks. Through precision and magnetic locators and ground penetrating radar, we help prevent damage to infrastructure utilities and protect lives.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Software Engineer to work within the Radiodetection Software Development Team to help us build new experiences, improve existing products and develop management systems for our Cable location, Video inspection and Time Domain Reflectometry products.

As a core participant of your team, you’ll estimate engineering efforts, plan implementations, and triage production issues. You need to be dynamic, collaborative, and curious as well as an impeccable communicator as you will be expected to collaborate with distributed teams.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Taking a leading role in the Software Engineering team
  2. Responsible for the full software lifecycle from concept stage through delivery to post launch support.
  3. Developing and working on features within desktop software such as our RD Manager product and within our SaaS offer C.AT Manager Online.
  4. Coding, testing, and debugging integrated systems to a high standard.
  5. Focused on Code optimization to drive low latency performance on our solution stack.
  6. Using dev tools such as Azure Dev Ops, BitBucket, Git, Jira, Confluence, and others.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

To be a Senior Software Engineer at Radiodetection, you will have:

  1. 4+ years programming skills - Ideally C#/C++ although candidates with other programming backgrounds would be considered, e.g. Java, NodeJS, JavaScript, Angular
  2. Ability to write clear and concise code whilst implementing appropriate software design patterns
  3. Strong understanding of operating systems such as Linux and Windows
  4. Willingness to learn and use new programming languages
  5. OO design and programming skills in C++ and C#
  6. Knowledge and experience with Visual Studio and .NET technology
  7. SQL Server
  8. WCF and Web API
  9. Winforms / WPF / UWP
  10. Prism and Unity
  11. Expression Blend
  12. Knowledge of InstallShield
  13. MVC (Model View Controller), JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax
  14. Experience in Web front-end development
  15. Knowledge of version control systems
  16. Knowledge of Bluetooth communication stack

Desirable

  1. Knowledge Web Service Technologies that interact with Mobile devices.
  2. Knowledge of TDD methodology
  3. Knowledge of markup languages (mainly XML and HTML)
  4. Knowledge AGILE techniques (SCRUM)
  5. Knowledge of Secure Development Life Cycle

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
  2. Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  3. Ability to learn and adapt quickly and excellent problem solving skills
  4. Experience of Test Driven Development approach to commercial software

Preferred Education / Experience

  1. Working experience with Agile / Scrum-based development methodology.
  2. Experience with Atlassian JIRA, Confluence and Kanban are highly recommended
  3. Ability to work with distributed teams
