Are you interested in jumping into the driver's seat of our sensational FireTV partner products? We are looking for exceptional talent with Android Open Source Project (AOSP) expertise to join as a Senior Software Development Engineer in the Fire TV 3p Devices team.

Our team's mission is to build delightful FireTV products for our customers and partners with lower cost and faster time to market.

As a member of the team, you will be working with business partners, software development engineers and testers to design, implement, test, launch, document, and maintain complex software applications, tools, and systems. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. You will learn a variety of cutting-edge technologies, development processes, and develop well-rounded skills such as leadership and effective project management. You will also mentor junior software development engineers.

Key job responsibilities
The Role:
As a Software Development Engineer - Systems, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design, and bring to market innovative developer tools. You will work closely with an internal interdisciplinary team and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

The ideal candidate has current and extensive experience developing and building Android systems and applications. The candidate understands what the limitations of the platform are and can design and implement additional services or help optimize existing ones to meet the product requirements. The ideal candidate:

1. Has in-depth expertise working with Android system
2. Experience on TIF and Android TV related work
3. Enjoys working side by side with partners, colleagues and teams on tough problems
4. Is highly effective and thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple, changing priorities
5. Knows what is important when releasing software to developers and has been through the process from start to finish
6. Is comfortable with proactive outward communication and technical leadership and never shies away from a challenge

A day in the life
In a typical day, you work closely with FireTV and FireOS developers, SoC vendors, ODMs, Hardware team, and technical program managers to create new platform features, debugging TIF and TV related issues, and deliver customer loving high quality smart TV products on time.
About the team
Smart TV Platform team is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of high-performance and highly stable platform for Smart TV products.

Basic qualifications

1. 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2. 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
3. 5+ years of experience in Linux kernel or Android framework
4. 3+ years of experience in performance tuning

Preferred qualifications

1. 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
2. Experiences in TV industry
3. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

FireTV 3P engineering team is chartered to bring enchanting FireTV experiences to third party devices. This is an opportunity to design, develop and own the software that disrupts TV viewing experience and impact billions of viewers and devices.

We are spinning up a greenfield engineering team to build tools and technologies which will redefine the way 3P partners build their TVs on FireTV ecosystem. With exciting roadmap and launches planned ahead. FireTV 3P engineering team will independently own, deliver and support end to end product journey for partners.
