The Promotions Intelligence team (Pint), part of Global Talent Management & Compensation (GTMC) is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the engineering team in Edinburgh as part of a strategic investment to build technology that will enable Amazon to adopt the most scientific approach to talent management.
Our team builds intelligent solutions with a consumer-grade user experience, using science to manage the performance of Amazon's 1M+ employees. Our engineering scope includes UX design, microservices, frontend, big data, and ML - enabling Amazon to retain its "Day One" culture while growing its talent.
As a Software Developer, you'll join a team to design and develop products/services for the Connected Talent Management team's 3-year vision. If you're passionate about scalable, high-availability web architectures using AWS, this is for you. You'll contribute to full-stack dev, following agile SDLC to solve ambiguous customer problems. You'll collaborate across the org to simplify solutions for measuring, managing and maintaining Amazon's workforce performance.

Key Job Responsibilities
Amazon has a collaborative, purposeful and enthusiastic environment where we "Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History." On a typical day engineers might deep dive to root cause a customer issue, implement a new feature, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, consult with the top engineers at Amazon, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational issues.
A software engineer at Amazon will have technical ownership of designs and services, and will influence good coding practices among peers. Responsibilities will include designing, coding, reviewing, testing, fixing, researching, deploying and maintaining services and code in Amazon cloud production environments. Successful candidates will be experienced software engineers who can prioritize well, are good team players, develop at a high standard, can deal with new and ambiguous problem domains, and have a consistent track record of delivery.

A Day in the Life
At Amazon, software engineers take ownership of solution design, turn it into code, and deliver it on schedule using appropriate technologies and best practices. They collaborate across teams to build new features, services, and applications. They are also responsible for maintaining and running the software they own, including dependencies, and are part of an on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

About the Team
