Job Vacancy

The Learning Disability Team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Social Worker to join the team. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with adults and/or young people with learning disabilities, good assessment knowledge, skills, and a confident understanding of all relevant legislation.

The successful jobholder will be based at Fairfield House, Dalkeith and must be able to plan and organise their work and be confident working with a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) to support the provision of Social Care services to adults with disabilities.

The work of the team is varied and underpinned by a person-centred approach and, alongside good assessment skills, requires a working knowledge of theories for intervention. The work involves multi-agency liaison and the ability to establish effective working relationships across the Health and Social Care Partnerships, partner agencies, and Third Sector interface.

Knowledge

A degree in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker is essential. A Diploma in Social Work with SSSC registration as a social worker is an acceptable alternative together with a Mental Health Officer academic qualification.

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £41,802.34 per annum.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults and children.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
