About Us:

The Early Help and Safeguarding hub (EHASH) are the front door for referrals to Children’s Social Care; they work to filter support through early help or up to children’s social care based on what is most appropriate for the child, young person and their family. EHASH is a multi-agency hub; working closely with Police and Health to make informed decisions in safeguarding children.

Our social workers, in the EHASH are the first decision makers for contacts coming into social care. We review information, liaise with partners and offer direction on next steps. We are key to supporting agencies and working through the concerns they have, signposting them to other services, liaising with locality leads to try to offer support and offering informal advice and consultation.

Our social workers are passionate about trying to meet families’ needs early and avoid escalation to specialist services. They are skilled in conversations, coaching, and able to apply sound thresholds on need and risk.

About You:

We are looking for someone who has experience in working in EHASH and is enthusiastic, motivated and child-focused to come and join our team.

To thrive in this role, you will need a diverse range of expertise, experience and knowledge. We would ask that applicants meet the following:

  • Social work degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work and will be registered with Social Work England as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Experience of working within safeguarding children.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals.
  • Have the ability to work within and contribute to a team.
  • Possess knowledge of service needs for minority ethnic groups and communities.
  • Have confident IT skills and be able to navigate an electronic file system.
  • Have the ability to write clear, concise and robust synopsis to evidence your decision-making.

We are Proud, Passionate and Pioneering in how we deliver services for children.

Our social workers say Rochdale council is a great place to work. They tell us that their managers are supportive and approachable and they listen to their ideas. Here are some comments from social workers in Rochdale:
