We have a vacancy for a Social Work Assistant within the North Kent Family Time Service, based at our Swale Local Office and covering across North Kent.
The primary requirement is to facilitate and supervise Family Time between children and their families, ensuring children get the best experience from these sessions and supporting the parents as necessary and appropriate.
While most arrangements for Family Time will be in place, you will assist with transport arrangements, including transporting children as required to implement the care plan. You will need to accurately document these sessions to assist Social Workers in completing assessments and informing care plans.
Providing support is essential to our service users, so the ability to produce good reports and case notes, collate information, and liaise with Social Workers and other professionals to inform complex court work is another key element of the work.
You must demonstrate that you can develop good working relationships with families, foster carers, and other professionals, as good interpersonal skills are vital.
You will become part of a team of Social Work Assistants based in North Kent. Although this role is based at Swale Local Office, the Family Time Service is led from Denton Family Centre in Gravesend, so there may be times when you will support the wider service.
This role requires holding a Full UK Driving Licence. The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments, so your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
The role requires mobility throughout a wide operational area, including travel around the County of Kent and beyond. You may be required to travel across a wide geographical area, in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day. Note that public transport is not a viable option, as some rural areas of Kent often have limited public transport.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
