Social Work AMHP - Community Mental Health Team

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency, has a new permanent position available for an Approved Mental Health Professional to work full-time within the Community Mental Health Team based in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Main Duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional:

  1. Participate in the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) rota, covering a mix of shifts including evenings, overnight, weekends, and bank holidays.
  2. Respond to calls from local authority colleagues, external agencies, and the public, assessing and prioritising cases to determine the appropriate level of response.
  3. Assess and manage risk in referrals, determining the need for protection and deciding the most suitable intervention.
  4. Utilise available services and resources to provide emergency social work support to individuals and families until regular office hours resume.
  5. Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes for service users.
  6. Maintain accurate written records of work undertaken using appropriate forms, following required administrative and monitoring procedures.
  7. Communicate effectively in writing with daytime colleagues and, where needed, with other agencies about work completed.
  8. Encourage clients to make informed decisions and participate in their immediate care plans, ensuring their views are understood and respected by service providers.

Requirements of this AMHP role:

  1. Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
  2. Registration with Social Work England, NMC, or HCPC.
  3. Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification.
  4. Significant post-qualifying experience in mental health services, ideally within a Community Mental Health Team or Crisis Team.
  5. Strong knowledge of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures
  6. Ability to make complex risk assessments and legal decisions in high-pressure environments.
