Social Value Partner - Stonecross

Murphy is currently recruiting for a Social Value Partner to join our award-winning Energy team. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Social Value Partner will be the primary owner of social value targets and strategy, responsible for its production, embedment and delivery to goals across the Energy BU.

Following the ‘One Murphy’ approach, we’re able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients such as National Grid, SSE and Ørsted, on both transmission and distribution networks within the Energy sector.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and lead a social value development plan which will be aligned with Client’s and Murphy objectives and identify opportunities to enhance positive social outcomes.
  • Primary lead to manage the Social Value input into PQQ and Tender questions and support the development of Social Value related responses in line with client strategies and PPN.
  • Collect data from others within the BU and update the Social Value Calculator.
  • Attend group and client forums/working groups, in order to contribute to change.
  • Manage compliance with current applicable legislation like Social Value Act 2012 and standards relating to social and environmental responsibility.
  • Foster a culture of social responsibility within the project to encourage employee engagement in social initiatives across the project and assist in its roll out.
  • Create and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with education establishments, industry bodies, and community organisations that help support our frameworks, projects, targets, and overall project targets.
  • Lead projects on the adherence to our Social Value Development Plan by overseeing their initiatives and ensuring targets are met.
  • Establish and implement robust metrics/KPIs and evaluation methods to measure the social impact of projects activities.
  • Develop methods to collect, organise, and interpret data to identify patterns and trends, to record and report on all social impact related outcomes and objectives, managing reporting deadlines and Murphy and client requirements.
  • Advocate for the third sector, by promoting (in parallel with Head of Procurement) Vocational, Community & Social Enterprises (VCSEs) to develop a responsible business approach which meets our framework and project requirements in relation to progressive procurement.
  • With the support of others, maintain a Giving Back Calendar and develop its content to increase the number of employees taking volunteer days.

Who we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in a similar role and a proven track record of successful social value initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement and a proven record in presenting confidently to client and senior management.
  • Stakeholder/relationship management skills in a project development and construction environment with stakeholders and contractors.
  • Demonstrable background and specific experience in developing Social Value plans and monitoring its performance.
