Job description

Our innovation strategy is simple - We want to solve the challenges we have today as well as find answers to some of our industry’s bigger long-term challenges. Whether it's delivering water that is always good to drink, reducing waste in our processes with energy efficient technologies or improving visibility of the network, our 150+ strong team of innovators are working day in day out to make it happen. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

With that in mind we're excited to announce an opportunity to join our team as a SOAF (Storm Overflow Assessment Framework) Team Manager at our Severn Trent Centre office in Coventry.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As the SOAF Compliance and Reporting Manager, you will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive review of the current SOAF process to identify areas that require improvement. This involves analysing existing procedures, identifying inefficiencies, and determining opportunities for enhancement. You will work closely with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners, to gather valuable input and feedback on proposed enhancements. This collaborative approach ensures that all perspectives are considered and that the proposed changes are well-informed and effective.

You will also be tasked with developing a detailed project plan that outlines the specific steps required to improve the SOAF process in line with the expected AMP8 new guidance. This plan will include timelines, milestones, and resource allocation to ensure that the project is executed smoothly and efficiently. Allocating resources and assigning responsibilities to team members will be a critical part of your role, as it ensures that everyone involved understands their tasks and can contribute effectively to the project's success.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will maintain and implement a robust data collection system designed to capture all relevant data accurately. This system will be essential for maintaining the integrity and reliability of the data collected. You will establish clear procedures for data reporting, including setting timelines and defining responsibilities to ensure that data is reported consistently and on time. Monitoring data collection and reporting processes will be crucial for promptly identifying and addressing any issues that arise, ensuring that the system operates smoothly and efficiently.

Finally, you will regularly review and update data collection and reporting procedures to ensure continuous improvement. This ongoing evaluation will help to identify any new challenges or opportunities for further enhancement, allowing the SOAF process to evolve and improve over time. Your role will be vital in maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of spill data reporting within the organisation, contributing to its overall success and effectiveness.

The role holder will be expected to carry out this role with little to no support, be very self-motivated and driven and have a natural curiosity and desire to make things better.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Conduct an evaluation of the current SOAF process to pinpoint areas needing improvement.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to collect input and feedback.
  • Create a detailed project plan that outlines the steps to implement the new process.
  • Distribute resources and assign responsibilities to team members.
  • Develop a robust data collection system to guarantee all relevant data is accurately captured.
  • Set up clear guidance for data reporting, including specific timelines and responsibilities.
  • Oversee data collection and reporting processes to identify and resolve issues.
  • Continuously review and update data collection and reporting procedures to ensure ongoing improvement.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • We’re looking for a candidate to ideally have strong technical knowledge of waste network sewer and or water quality modelling and experience of working in operational and regulatory environments.
  • You will have previous experience analysing complex data and getting to the key facts/insight in order to deliver improvement.
  • You must be naturally curious, motivated and action orientated in order to take ideas and improvements all the way through to delivery and benefits realisation. You’ll be presenting to a wide range of audiences and influencing different teams to gain support and buy in.
  • You should ideally have a wealth of experience in managing high-profile projects. This involves overseeing complex initiatives from start to finish, coordinating with various stakeholders throughout the process. Your strengths will include building relationships, gaining credibility and ongoing stakeholder management at all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail is critical, with the capability to quickly understand processes in relation to data and in relation to the bigger picture.
  • An intuitive ability to identify improvement opportunities through forums, meetings and wider networking is a must.
