Job description

Compassionate SLD teaching assistant, enhancing educational outcomes for all students.

SLD Teaching Assistant

Location: Dudley

Duration: Full time, ongoing

Salary: £95 – £105 per day

The School/Role:

We are looking for a full-time TA to start working at a fantastic special needs school in Dudley on a long-term supply basis. This role requires at least two years of experience working with a range of special needs such as ASD, ADHD, MLD, and SLD in a school or healthcare environment. You will be working quite closely with SLD, so strong knowledge is required. Key Duties:
  • Constant Supervision: Provide vigilant supervision to ensure the safety of the child and others, particularly in managing disruptive behaviour.
  • Building Trusting Relationships: Foster a trusting relationship with the student to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Sensory Room Assistance: Facilitate the student’s engagement in the sensory room to enhance their learning experience.
  • Outdoor Activities: Organise and facilitate opportunities for the student to run around outside each day, promoting physical activity and well-being.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant SEN Background.
  • PECS and Makaton training/experience.
  • PMLD, SLD, MLD, ASD, and Complex needs experience.
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate.
  • Recent school-based references.
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport.
  • Full DBS – on the update service.
