Position Overview
The Site Supervisor – Highways is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site activities associated with highway construction, maintenance, or improvement projects. This role ensures work is completed efficiently, safely, on schedule, and in compliance with relevant standards and specifications. The Site Supervisor acts as the main point of contact for workers, contractors, and stakeholders on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Coordination
Manage and oversee daily site activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and schedules.
Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure smooth workflows.
Ensure all equipment, materials, and manpower are available and utilized effectively.
Quality Assurance
Monitor works to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and local authority requirements.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of ongoing works.
Identify and address quality issues proactively.
Health and Safety
Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations and site-specific risk assessments.
Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility among all site staff.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions as required.
Communication and Reporting
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress.
Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily logs, material usage, and incidents.
Address any on-site challenges or issues and escalate as needed.
Problem Solving
Respond swiftly to site issues, providing effective solutions to minimize delays and disruptions.
Implement contingency plans as required in collaboration with the project team.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
Proven experience in a supervisory role within highways, road construction, or civil engineering projects.
Black/Gold CSCS.
NVQ Level 3 Supervisor.
SMSTS.
Safety Critical Competence.
National Highways Competence.
Principle Contractor Supervisor.
Highways Lighting Qualification.
Desirable
Proficiency in project management software and tools.
First Aid certification.
Key Attributes
